Lost Flower : Search for the Missing Color

now i'm thinking,
he could have been mine.
i could have been her.
it was only a matter of time.

one of my favorite photos he sent me years ago

i met someone years ago. i met him on an online pool game. we had our own share of conversations. we chatted even without playing. we exchanged snail mails and photographs back then. there was a connection between us, i suppose. but it was distance that was against us. i had my life, he had his own. sadly, it was me who took the first step back. i stopped communicating. i guess it was because somebody else came. he found another love. i fell deeply for another. years has passed and i never heard from him. but months ago, time brought us together again. he was finally free, i was somewhat not. we talked like strangers again, trying to rebuild a lost friendship. i liked him even before. but i was too preoccupied with somebody else. so i gave him the hint of a NO. i remember him saying that it was too bad cos he's saving up to come over. sigh. and it ended everything again. time was definitely against us. he's free and i'm not. i'm free and he's not. i guess it's just not meant to be. now i can see how happy he is. one guy who once said he was not yet ready to marry, has finally tied the knot  last september, i think after year of his new relationship.i'm looking at their photos now and i can say he's really happy. i am happy for him. indeed, she's one lucky girl.

Dear friend,

this song will forever remind me of you.
it still gives me jitters every now and then though.
oh yes, this has been your song every since.

i'm still searching for the photo of a flower you took while visiting arizona.
you wrote: "this was the only color i could find in the desert."
now i'm thinking, would i ever see that color again? i just hope so.
you and me is just plain you and me in reality.
i can't help but wonder what could have been.
but still i must thank you.
you are surely one of my FOREVER NEVERs.

Waiting: Fighting Against Time

“The wait is long, my dream of you does not end.”
― Nuala O'Faolain, My Dream of You

waiting for you is like cursing the time.
it is going beyond what is immeasurable,
as what they say irrational.
sometimes i wish time would stand still...
for every second that comes brings me closer to infinity.

it's hard to be left behind... it's hard to be the one who stays. -The Time Traveller's Wife

what if i tell you i'm finally tired of waiting,
will you come back to me rushing?
what if i tell you i have my whole lifetime to wait,
will it take you take forever?

“I’ve learned that waiting is the most difficult bit, and I want to get used to the feeling,
knowing that you’re with me, even when you’re not by my side.”
― Paulo Coelho, Eleven Minutes

how many lamps should be lit to help you see the path?
how many minutes will it take you to find your way?
how many leaves will the trees shed to welcome the coldness of winter?
how will i ever find you in this darkness?

“I don't care how wonderful heaven is, I won't be content waiting thirty years for you.”
― Jason F. Wright, The Wednesday Letters

it's not just about emotions.
pain would have killed me a hundred times if it was.
it's all about making a choice.
it's all about having a decision.

"She doesn't know what's right. She doesn't know what's wrong.
She only knows the pain that comes from waiting for him so long.
And she doesn't count the teardrops that she's cried while he's away,
because she knows deep in her heart, he'll be back someday."
 - Eagles, "The Girl from Yesterday"

stop. come back. and kiss me.

----o----

two, three, four years?
nobody holds the future.
maybe tomorrow, or the day after that.
or just maybe forever.
but for now i do not know.
in time. yes!
you will know.
i will let you know.

50 Ways to Say Goodbye

My heart is paralyzed
My head was oversized
I'll take the high road like I should
You said it's meant to be
That it's not you, it's me
You're leaving now for my own good

That's cool, but if my friends ask where you are I'm gonna say...

(50 Ways To Say Goodbye by Train)

here's a good read for us who seem to find it hard to say goodbye...

The Brave Heart: How to Say Goodbye

“Breaking up is hard to do.” Neil Sedaka

One of the things I am trying to teach myself is how to say goodbye. I have taught my kids to say goodbye to their friends by escorting them to the door, looking them in the eye, and sincerely thanking them for the visit. But there is a lot more to goodbye, isn’t there?

Farewell soirees, funerals, retirement events, reunions—if you don’t like saying goodbye, these events can be uncomfortable.

When you are young, you really don’t know how to say goodbye. You mumble some words, shut the door, and turn your back. Then it happens to you. Everybody knows what it feels like when your best friend moves away. You cry in your pillow. You miss them so much. You want to tell them how you feel.

You know something is missing. You want to say goodbye properly. But you don’t quite know how.

As you get older, you master different ways of saying goodbye. When I left my family to attend school in Toronto, my sister’s way of saying goodbye was awfully simple: she avoided it. I knew she cared a lot.

Lots of people avoid saying goodbye. Who can blame you? It’s too painful. You might get emotional. It’s much easier to suppress your feelings. It’s much easier easier to say “forget about it.”

I think our significant relationships are marked by what we have learned about saying goodbye. If you don’t say goodbye properly, let’s say you run away, practice avoidance, or lie about your true feelings, one thing is sure: a bad goodbye will follow you.

Like the pop song says, breaking up is hard to do. People who cannot break up properly become imprisoned by their inability to be forthright. When you can’t say goodbye, you may not resolve your feelings. Sometimes difficult feelings keep returning to you or you fall into patterns. You wish there were no unfinished business. We all want to move on but sometimes it feels like we’re running in place.

Is it wrong to skip goodbye when you no longer want a relationship with someone? For example, a good friend of mine is drifting away. What should I do? Should I let the friendship die a slow death of negligence? Or should I stab the relationship in the heart with a clear and honest goodbye?

“I am finding it hard to be friends with you. We have been friends for a long time but right now it’s not working.  It’s not the same anymore. I find it too difficult to be friends with you. If you’re not ready to resolve this, I think it’s time to move on.”

Now who the heck can say that?

A proper goodbye can change your life for the better. I said goodbye to my parents before each died and although I was enormously afraid, I said the words I needed to say. If you ever have said goodbye properly, you know how right it feels.

“I love you. I will always love you. You are my everything. If it’s okay with you I think I can let you go now.”

My children are at the stage when they are beginning and ending many relationships. I would like my son and daughter to know how to say goodbye in an honest, respectful, and sincere way. Often there is no way to avoid the pain, but there is a way to recognize and respect each person. Easier said than done, right?

Are you like me? Do you have a lot of unfinished business in your life? There are people that I have treated so poorly. I should have been more honest. I should have shown more courage. I should have been braver.

Maturity is a funny thing. How you say good bye tells you a lot about where you stand on the road of life. Can you be sensitive and honest with someone or do you bury your emotions and hope they will go away?

Sometimes, when we feel we are wronged we really want to practice avoidance and justify our denial. Sometimes we say it’s not worth it.

It’s just not worth being your friend, we say. But what we’re really saying is that self-honesty and genuine respect for another person is not worth it.

We all realize, sooner or later, that relationships only grow when we are courageous enough to voice our true feelings. We know that relationships deepen when we work through our grievances, when we express our sincere feelings, when we say how hurt we have been.

When you say goodbye to someone, whether it’s for eight hours or forever, you try to express your appreciation for your time together. But most of all, I think, you recognize that life is transitory, anything can happen, that this moment might very well be the last honest moment you have together.

How do you know you have said goodbye properly? How do you deal with the inevitable mourning period when you miss the person even as you are thankful the relationship is over? How do you avoid that seemingly endless make up and break-up cycle?

I don’t know.

What I do know is that I still possess wounds from relationships gone by. I still think about my failures, and in this way old wounds sometimes never heal.

Your friend leaves you and this hurts. We cry for many reasons but the tears of goodbye seem the most potent. I thought when I was a child that death was merely a vacation.  You could simply pretend that the person was temporarily gone. How wrong I was.

I also realize that I have always wanted to avoid the pain of goodbye. I have never wanted to confront my own tears. Death is the toughest goodbye of all. There is so much that should have been said. So much that was unsaid. So much that could have been better.

When the tender tears of goodbye flow, if you are strong enough to let them, the tears can heal you.

“I just wanted to say goodbye. I wanted just to tell you how I feel. I wanted you to know how close you are.”

Whether you’re a young person deciding to break-up with your first sweet heart or a senior who is afraid to go the hospice and say goodbye to a dear friend—every moment is an opportunity to search our hearts for the truth.

What is the truth?

At the same that we are so easily damaged, so vulnerable to the words and actions of others, we also know that it is our relationships that define us. It is okay to let go of your difficult relationships. It is okay to say goodbye. But how different life would be if we opened our hearts and practiced being brave?

-------------

Dear You,

i lost count of the days,
it has been months but i lost count of it too...
though everything remains unmoved on my side,
our zero visibility is undeniably painful but somewhat helpful...
someday i will eventually be able to put these photos and messages away..
someday i will be able to keep you away from my dreams...
someday i will be able to break my silence...
someday i will be able to answer them why...
and someday...
i will find a perfect way to say goodbye..

A Night in Greece

I got a chance a watch MAMMA MIA The Musical last Saturday. It was actually a local one. The show was okay but it came out not as what i expected it though. It was a bit pricey for it, so to say. Nonetheless, i enjoyed hearing all those ABBA songs again. They reminded me of two things: first, my past and second, my wish to go to Greece immediately after watching the movie years ago. Well, it's still part of my wishlist -- a wedding in Greece, on that same place, on that same chapel.. and that's dreaming BIG..(u gotta dream big nga diba?) haha

Dear You,

i am still lost for words...

i don't want to talk
cause it makes me feel sad..

somewhere deep inside
you must know i miss you
but what can i say?
rules must be obeyed..

THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL!

Somebody That I Used To Know

if you can't find the right words to say, then just sing it away!

Dear You,

Somebody That I Used To Know
by Walk off the Earth

Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
I told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it's an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over

But you didn't have to cut me off
Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing
I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger
And that feels so rough

No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records
And then change your number
Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now you're just somebody that I used to know
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believin it was always something that I'd done

But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know-oh-oh

But you didn't have cut me off
Make it like it never happened and that we were nothing (oh)
I don't even need your love, but you treat me like a stranger
and that feels so rough

(oh)

No, you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect you records
And then change your number (oh)
Guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know

Somebody that I used to know
Somebody (now your just somebody that I used to know)
That I used to know
Somebody that I used to know
Somebody (somebody) (now your just somebody that I used to know)
That I used to know

I used to know
That I used to know
I used to know
Somebody

Say You're Sorry

yes tomorrow is my birthday. and i'm excited for the BIG 3-O...
i just want to be happy much on my day...
i wish for hearts and flowers...

Dear YOU,

It's not the curtain closing causing us to call it a day
I want to walk away too
But I want you to say you are sorry
I'm not the one who went and made a mistake
I want to walk away too
But I want you to say you are sorry

The BREAKING

i have kept this heart intact for a years. it was a supposed anniversary gift. a his and hers kind of thing. he gets the girl, i get the boy. but for some reason it was never really given away, never broken apart.

i lost count of the absence. i don't know when to start counting. all i know is that it has been for some time now.   and though it still hurts much, i don't have any choice but to move on and accept things. today i finally had the courage to do what i feared to do. it was part of my 30thingsin30daysbefore30 list.  and today i have seen it. he looked happy. i've seen the smiles. i can tell he is. whatever reasons he may have, one thing is clear to me, he doesn't want me to be part of his life now. i just wished it would bring in hate this time. but it didn't. much hurt came, piercing like a knife. Oh love, why are you so hard on me?

i so wish i am out of here. memories hurt more that anything else. every corner of this room reminds me of everything. and trust me, it is much difficult for me as you can imagine. i just want a tight hug from mama and papa right now. i wish they are just a few steps away. and yes my alone time gives me the distraction that i need, but temporarily. it is when i get home, go to bed and close my eyes everyday that i'm having a hard time dealing with. sometimes i wonder why i wasn't born rich so i could travel anytime and anywhere i want to. it would be much easier for someone like me who finds comfort in travelling.

a few more days before my birthday. and i know God has a perfect gift for me when that day comes. and i can't wait for that special box coming my way. but for now i just owe my self some silence, some time to break, some time to bleed. in time.... in God's perfect time...

Dear Heart,

I'm sorry i had to break you.
I suppose it is the right time.
Just give me some time.
Let's not rush into things.
There's still a lot to do to perfectly heal.
Breaking is just part of it, the start of it.
But for now let us just bleed together.
We both need it my dear heart.
Soon enough we will find that good in goodbye.
Soon.
And by that time we will have a different story to tell.
A story worth telling.

Dear ANONYMOUS (Part 2)

Dear ANONYMOUS,

Hello again.i am quite flattered to know that you just came across my blog by accident. i don't have much visitors that i know who take time to check and read on my posts, much more leave comments. so i honestly appreciate your presence here. at least now i have someone to exchange my views with and make this blog interactive in a way.

everybody is entitled to his own views so it is but proper to respect yours. but may i just reiterate that the entry was not to lure somebody back. i don't think i would want somebody back just because of guilt cos that would fall into forcing love my way and honestly that's not what i believe in. besides, there is a slim chance that that somebody will come across my blog cos i suppose he would no longer be interested to check in. he stopped talking, i stopped talking, we stopped talking for some time now.

in a relationship, it's not always hearts and flowers. both happiness and sadness come in handy. and i have learned to accept that. heartaches come with the package. if you read my entry again, i did not mention even a single complaint regarding my or should i say, our situation. cos i did all those things by choice. nobody forced me, he didn't ask me to. they were all done out of love. so i don't think i have the right to slap it all on his face and ask for a refund or whatsoever. they are all results of my decision to give my love the best way i can.

i don't think some people would appreciate what people like me do for love. some may say it is a selfless act, but some will also think it is a selfish display of love. life works that way, we can't please everybody. and we should never forget that one can never fully understand somebody until he climbs under the other person's skin and be him. the fact is, everything is in a case to case basis. you can never judge a thing just because you yourself has experienced it or has seen it happen to someone close to you before. it all depends on the situation, the persons involved and the characteristics they have. some things will work for some and not for others. some will take it easy, some will not. some will choose to leave, some will stay. some will live in hatred, some will love more. some will go on begging for love while some will learn to let go and love in silence. life works that way, different for every person.

i think you were referring to this line when you said you thought i was taking the role of a pitiful victim.
"when he finally asks you to stop,
but you don't and decide to still hang on and hold on to your hope..
that's LOVE ON THE THIRD DEGREE."
i think you got it all mixed up here. i was not talking about someone who didn't stop even if she was asked to and tried cling on to save the relationship. that would not be love on the third degree if we put it that way. i just wanted to point out that love on the third degree means still loving someone even if he already asked you to stop, loving not forcing. that's letting go of the person but hanging on to your love, even from afar. it is honestly clear to me that one can never make another person love her if that person really won't. and love on the third degree understands that even more. i would like to believe that's not selling myself short. so i would like to know how you define it then.

different people see things differently in different angles. your views and my views maybe different but i'm sure we both have our own reasons for thinking so. and that goes to your friend too. she may not see what you are seeing but please do not forget that it works for her too. letting go and moving on are two different things. the first would be easier to learn than the second. so one will have to learn to let go of the person first before anything else. the amount of pain will depend on how much care one has towards the other. if it hurts much cos one has loved much then let it bleed. one should never attempt to kill it cos trust me, it would only be painful to the core. besides, i believe love will heal all wounds not time. it would be a struggle and sometimes, it is absolutely painful to watch. believe me, the pain that the other persons see is not even half as the pain felt by the person struggling. some are just lucky enough to display a much stronger personality. smiling though in pain so as not to affect the people around. what we feel is quite contagious so sometimes one will choose to deal with things alone and instead leave things between the parties involved.

thank you for dropping by and i hope to hear from you again.

Dear Anonymous

i got a surprising email notification today. and honestly, i am quite bothered by this certain comment on my LOVE on THE THIRD DEGREE blog entry. i suppose there is a need for a detailed response regarding this matter. so here goes.....

Dear ANONYMOUS,

i would like to thank you for taking some of your time to pay my blog a visit. since you have not made yourself known, i guess i would have to settle with me calling you ANONYMOUS then. i am not sure if we both know each other personally, but i would like to think that you don't know the whole story behind this and that you are just basing your comment on the entry itself.

first and for all, the entry was written not to make a specific person guilty, much more to regain a lost love. but it was merely written to express a blogger's suppressed emotions regarding her current situation. yes, i must agree that there is a thin line between being selfless and being selfish. but may i just remind you that one will never know who is who unless he knows well the persons involved and has gotten the whole truth about the story.

honestly when i wrote that entry, the guilt thing never really crossed my mind. i swear i had no idea on what you were trying to point out. it was only after reading your comment that i took time to read my entry again and examine it. but this time, not as the writer but as a reader. my apologies if i sounded like a pitiful victim to you. eventhough i still can't fathom why. i never meant it that way. it was just an entry written to show what unconditional love can do and how far it can go, that's from loving too much and letting somebody go. and if i may recall, i never posted any complaints on the said entry. so where did the playing the role of a pitiful victim come from? that, i would like to know.

yes, there is still hope. but it's hope from a grieving heart, struggling to find answers. it is definitely NOT hope to bring about guilt or anything else just to have somebody back into a relationship. it has just been a month. and seven years is seven years and it's not that easy to forget especially when you have made it your life since day one. sometimes, hope is the only thing you can cling on when everything seems to be going the other way. sometimes hope can be your only comfort when you have finally accepted that dreadful goodbye. it is hope for things to be good in time, definitely not hope for guilt, not hope for a forced love.

i am dealing with these things the best way i can. trust me, for somebody like me, it's not that easy. and LOVE on the THIRD DEGREE was written from the heart. it was a burst of emotions. it is the TRUTH!

Thank you and i hope to hear from you soon.

a letter to whoever

i woke up early today with my body clock putting me out of bed and in front of my laptop. oh yeah! my everyday morning routine. but today is a bit different. i'm damn feeling low and feels like hating the world this early. i just want to write this letter to someone whom i don't want to disclose.

Dear ________,

i promised myself not to hate you but one thing is for sure, i'm hurt.. the words you uttered just stabbed me from the core. i'm not sure if it is because i'm wondering why you said them or is it because you caught me unprepared with everything. my dear friend, your actions seemed inappropriate. honestly, i am tempted to put on my robe of pride again just to keep me warm from your coldness. but i have to remind myself all over that you have always been an exception to everything. my love for you is more than my precious pride. i just hope this hurt would vanish soon and that i can sleep well at night again. in time i will understand why but for now, i'm giving you what you are impliedly asking. wish you happiness. ciao!

xoxo,

Ceangy
